Our honey

Where does your honey come from?

We run 150 hives across the Okanagan in British Columbia. We also collaborate with other local beekeepers and support their businesses. We're based in Vernon, BC, and we're a certified True Source Canadian producer.

Is your honey raw?

Yes. All of our honey is 100% pure, Canada No. 1 and unpasteurized. We never add sugar, syrups or preservatives.

What is infused honey?

Infused honey is honey that real ingredients have been steeped in to add their flavour. We infuse our honey with whole flowers, herbs and spices like lavender, lemon, vanilla bean and chili pepper for several weeks, then remove them. Shop our infused honey.

What is iced honey? Is it the same as creamed honey?

Yes. Iced honey is our name for creamed honey, which is also called whipped honey or honey butter. It's honey that has been crystallized in a controlled way so it's smooth, thick and spreadable instead of runny. Shop our iced honey.

What is fireweed honey?

Fireweed honey comes from the nectar of the pink fireweed flower and is often called the champagne of honey for its light colour and delicate flavour. Try our Fireweed Pure Honey.

Which flavour should I try first?

Our Lavender Infused Honey is our most popular, and Vanilla is a close second. If you like sweet and spicy, go for Chili Pepper, our take on hot honey.

Storage and use

My honey has gone thick or grainy. Is it still good?

Yes. Crystallizing is a natural sign of raw, unpasteurized honey. To make liquid honey runny again, set the pouch in a bowl of warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes.

How should I store honey?

Keep it at room temperature in a cool, dry cupboard with the cap closed. There's no need to refrigerate it, and the fridge will make it crystallize faster.

Does honey expire?

Honey keeps for a very long time when it's sealed and kept dry. For the best flavour, enjoy it by the best before date on the pouch.

Can babies have honey?

No. Health Canada advises not to give honey to babies under one year old.

How can I use infused honey?

Stir it into tea and coffee, drizzle it over cheese, pizza or ice cream, or use it in dressings, marinades and baking. Our recipes have lots of ideas.

Packaging, orders and shipping

Why do you use pouches instead of jars?

Glass jars are heavy and take a lot of energy to make and ship. Our lightweight spouted pouches use far less material and less fuel to transport, and they make pouring easy with no sticky spoon.

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes. Shipping is a flat $14.90, and Canadian orders over $75 ship free until December 31.

Where else can I buy Bee Kind?

You'll find Bee Kind honey at Safeway, Thrifty Foods, Nesters, Quality Foods, Urban Fare, Fresh St Market, Loblaws, Gardenworks and many independent grocers, as well as at Christmas markets. Our honey vinaigrettes are sold at Safeway, Thrifty Foods, Urban Fare, Fresh St Market and Save On Foods.

Can my store carry Bee Kind?

Yes. Retailers can order Bee Kind wholesale through Faire, or contact us directly.

Do you make gifts?

Our honeys make great gifts for hosts, teachers and anyone who loves tea, coffee or a good cheese board. A mix of three flavours is an easy favourite.
